Accessibility Statement

Ascension of the Lord Romanian Orthodox Church wants this website to be usable by everyone in our community, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or screen magnification.
What we aim for
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We want to be straightforward with you about where we are: the site has not yet had a formal accessibility audit, so we describe our status as partial conformance. We would rather say that plainly than claim a standard we haven't verified.
What works today
The site can be navigated by keyboard, and a "Skip to Main Content" link is provided.
Page structure uses real headings, so screen readers can move through sections.
The site works at phone, tablet, and desktop sizes, and text can be enlarged by your browser's zoom.
We do not use automatically moving or flashing content.
Known problems we are still fixing
We would rather list these than pretend they aren't there.
Small section labels on phones. Some section labels render at about 6 pixels on a phone, which is too small to read comfortably. We are increasing this.
Photograph descriptions. Our photograph archive holds many thousands of images from years of parish life. Most now carry a caption, but many do not yet have descriptive alternative text for screen readers. This is the largest known gap, and given the size of the archive it will be an ongoing effort rather than a single fix.
Contrast and spacing. Some of the site's colour contrast and spacing has not yet been checked against the AA thresholds.
